steam loco BR 38 3553, DB, Ep.3, box tender, Witte wind deflectors, BD Wuppertal Bw Bestwig, 3 top lights
BR 38 / P8 - the prototype The passenger locomotive introduced as Prussian P8 of the class 35.17 later became the 38.10-40 and is the prototype for the gauge 0 model. After superheated steam engines had already proven to be easy to maintain and efficient in the G 8, the P 8 with its economical superheated steam twin engine formed a design milestone in the construction of passenger train locomotives. With a wheelbase (including tender 2'2'T 21.5) of less than 16 meters, the P 8 also fitted onto small turntables. In contrast to its predecessor, the P 6, the P 8 ran at 100 km/h forward and 50 km/h backward, and even 85 km/h backward in later DB push-pull service with a tub tender and a closed cab.
All gauge 0 locomotives from Lenz set standards in equipment, functionality and faithfulness to the original and have unique options:
- Mixed metal/plastic construction
- high performance engine
- remote controlled, automatic coupling
- constant light
- direction-dependent light change
- spring buffers
- metal wheelsets
- Wheel flange height less than 1.2 mm
- Automatic recognition of Lenz Digital (DCC) or conventional DC operation (analog)
This locomotive model also impresses with its rich equipment and - like all Lenz locomotives - with its true-to-the-original detailed representation. In addition to the standard equipment:
- Decoder with USP and energy storage as well as numerous functions and sound already integrated
- prototypical locomotive-tender distance (please read the instructions!)
- original sound
- Steam generator
- The locomotive runs on a minimum radius of 914 mm (Lenz R1)
- spring buffers
- Chassis metal
- Noiseless motor control enables smooth, jerk-free running and especially good slow speed characteristics
- The speed of the motor is determined by an angle magnetic sensor mounted on the motor axle
- Both sides of the locomotive are equipped with the automatic Lenz coupler with close coupling guide, which can be remotely controlled in digital mode
- The locomotive has constantly bright headlights at the front and rear, the lamps are equipped with maintenance-free LEDs, the light changes depending on the direction of travel
- In digital mode, the front and rear headlights can be switched on and off separately, the brightness can be set separately from other lighting
- The driver's cab lighting can be switched separately from the top light, the brightness can be adjusted separately from other lightings
- The shunting gear reduces the speed of the locomotive by about half, shunting movements can therefore be performed particularly sensitively; shunting light means that both the front and rear (white) lamps are switched on regardless of the direction of travel
The Lenz locomotive-tender coupling With this coupling mimic, even the radius R1 (914 mm) can be driven with prototypical distance between locomotive and tender.
