The passenger train tender locomotive designated by the Austrian Federal Railways as the 77 series was procured from 1913 (SB/kkStB Rh 629) in several series until 1927. The Pacific type 2'C1' h2t steam locomotive was approved for a maximum speed of 85 km/h. With full water tanks and coal bunkers, a range of up to 200 km could be achieved. Practically every train haulage operation in Austria was equipped with 77 series locomotives at some point. The later 77.14 was delivered to BBÖ in 1922 as 629.29 with the factory number 4379 by the StEG machine factory. After an eventful fifty years, it was taken out of service in November 1972.
