To simplify and rationalize its passenger services, the Nordhausen-Wernigeroder Eisenbahngesellschaft (NWE) ordered a four-axle diesel railcar from Triebwagen- und Waggonfabrik Wismar A. G. in 1932, which was fitted with a 400 hp MAN diesel engine and put into service as the T1. The NWE was very satisfied with the vehicle, which was capable of speeds of up to 60 km/h, which is why two more railcars of this type were procured, which were used on the NWE route network from 1935 under the operating numbers T2 and T3. They had a slightly different design. They had luggage compartments instead of a passenger compartment and a more powerful engine with 520 hp for the transportation of higher trailer loads. After the GDR was founded in 1949, the NWE was expropriated and integrated into the newly created Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR). The vehicles were redrawn in the DR numbering plan and lost their original red paint scheme, as they were repainted in beige-red, the color scheme used by the state railroad for diesel railcars. Our LGB model reproduces the former NWE T3, which from then on was operated by the DR as VT 137 566. The railcar was used by the DR as a track maintenance vehicle and as a freight railcar.

Model: This is a model of a diesel powered rail car. Four wheel sets powered by two powerful engines. This makes the very powerful railcar capable of pulling several cars - just like its large prototype. Equipped with an mfx/DCC decoder with many light and sound functions. Interior lighting and cab lighting, can be controlled in digital operation. Length over buffers 64 cm.
