Prototype: German Federal Railroad (DB) class V 100 2027 diesel locomotive. Version in purple red of Era III. use: passenger and freight trains.

Model: The locomotive has a built-in digital decoder and sound generator for operation with mfx and DCC. Motor with a flywheel, 4 axles powered, traction tires. Triple headlights that change over with the direction of travel and 2 red marker lights that can be turned off. The locomotive has separately applied grab irons. Length over buffers 75 mm.

The class V 100 diesel locomotives were initially developed in the 1950s as a replacement for the class 64 and 86 steam locomotives and were intended for light service on main lines and mixed use on branch lines. The V 80 served as a model, but the new locomotive was to be significantly cheaper. In cooperation with the BZA Munich, MaK in Kiel was commissioned with the development. In the late fall of 1958, MaK delivered five advance locomotives V 100 001-005 (later V 100 1001-1005, from 1968: 211 001-005) with 1,100 hp engines as well as the V 100 006 (later V 100 2001, from 1968: 212 001), which had received a 1,350 hp engine. In 1961/62, 20 advance locomotives of the V 100.20 series with the more powerful 1,350 hp engine were ordered as "light main line locomotives". Between 1963 and 1966, the German industry delivered two series with a total of 360 units of this more powerful variant. In 1965, ten machines (V 100 2332-2341) were branched off from the last series and equipped with hydrodynamic brakes for use on the steep line between Rastatt and Freudenstadt. The V 100 was characterized by its angular, angular shape, which was clearly based on the V 60. The engine power was transmitted to the hydraulic Voith gearbox via a flexible coupling and cardan shaft, which allowed the train to be driven in line gear (Vmax 100 km/h) or in shunting gear (Vmax 65 km/h) by means of a stepped gearbox. The bogies were a new design as a welded tubular construction to which the wheelset links were attached via silentblocs. The engine system in the longer front end was easily accessible from the outside via a hood-shaped sliding door. These machines could be used universally in front of light and medium-duty passenger, express and freight trains on main and branch lines. In 1968, the V 100.20s were given the computerized class designation 212, the steep line locomotives ran as class 213. From the mid-1990s, their use declined significantly, and the last locomotives were decommissioned by DB AG's freight division (railion) in December 2004. Most of the decommissioned locomotives were not scrapped, but were usually sold by locomotive dealers. Many are now used by track construction companies in France and Italy. However, German private railroads and foreign state railroads were and still are grateful customers for the V 100.20 (212). Even the DB has not yet completely dispensed with the tried and tested machines. Twelve remotorized units are in operation today at DB Fahrzeugdienste GmbH and six 212/213s can be found at DB Bahnbau-Gruppe GmbH. Fifteen of them have been rebuilt as class 714 locomotives for DB Netz Notfalltechnik and serve as locomotives for rescue trains, which are primarily intended for emergency use on new lines.

One-off series.
