Prototype: Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) type RABe 501 "Giruno" EC 250 high speed electric multiple unit. 1 end car A (Bt1), 2nd class. 1 F (B7) center car, 2nd class, with handicapped entrances and pantograph. 1 middle car G (WR6), with restaurant area. 1 center car H (A5), 1st class, with handicapped entrances and pantograph. 1 end car L (At2), 1st class. In service as a multi-system multiple unit between Zurich Airport and Basel as well as transalpine through the Gotthard Base Tunnel to Milan. With registration also intended to Germany and Austria. Train number RABe 501 003, with "San Gottardo" emblem. Current operating status 2022.
Model: 5-car basic set. Restaurant car G and the two center cars F and H on the left and right are permanently coupled together via the Jakobs bogies. The car comes with a digital decoder and extensive sound and light functions. Controlled high-efficiency propulsion with flywheel mass centrally installed in the restaurant car. All 4 axles in both Jakobs bogies on the left and right of the restaurant car are powered via cardan shafts. Traction tires. Driver's cabs in the end cars with interior furnishings. Direction-dependent power supply via the front end car in each case. Scenery guide in the Jakobs bogies. The three-light headlights and two red marker lights change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. Can be switched to a white marker light (Swiss light changeover). Other separately switchable light functions. Interior lighting installed as standard. Interior lighting is supplied by the continuous electrical connection of the entire train. In addition, the cab and cab lighting can be controlled separately in digital operation. The entire lighting system is equipped with maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs. Pantographs on the F and H center cars can be raised and lowered separately as a digital function. Scale reproduction. The minimum radius that can be driven on is 360 mm. Length of the basic set approx. 112 cm.
The 5-car 25810 basic set can be extended with the 2-car 23281, 23282, and 23283 add-on car sets to make a prototypical 11-car powered rail car train.
The basic set for the RABe 501 "Giruno" high speed multiple unit can be found in an AC version in the Märklin H0 assortment under item number 39810.
