Steam train of the Murtalbahn In 1894, the 76.1 km long narrow-gauge railroad from Unzmarkt to Mauterndorf - also called the "Murtalbahn" because of the river that gives it its name - was opened. Today it is part of the Steiermarkbahn (StB) or the Steiermärkische Landesbahnen and belongs to the Murau region as naturally as, for example, Murau beer. On the one hand, it is the local means of public transport.
