We have deliberately not assigned our model trees to any particular model railroad gauge (nominal size), because even in nature the height growth of individual trees and shrubs varies greatly, so that scale-related limits cannot be bindingly defined. With regard to the maximum heights, however, the following rule of thumb generally applies:

H0 gauge: height up to 220 mm TT gauge: height up to 190 mm N gauge: height up to 120 mm Z gauge: height up to 80 mm

Exceptions confirm the rule here as well. A single tree, effectively placed, can exceed the suggested maximum height and act as a "highlight" on your layout. However, several oversized trees placed in groups can quickly overwhelm a designed scene.
