The H0 wheel cleaning unit for all model railroad systems, which is supplied with traction voltage (analog and digital) and can thus be driven on, cleans oil and dirt residues from driven and non-driven wheels of rail-bound model railroad vehicles. The unit is equally suitable for locomotives and carriages and can be integrated into model railroad carriages of complete trains to be driven on/over.
The wheel cleaning technology driven by a 12 Volt DC motor (Faulhaber¹) makes two brass rods covered with polishing material oscillate under the locomotive and wagon wheel. This creates a cleaning effect on the wheel tread of locomotives and wagons. The wheel tread rolling on the 250 mm long cleaning strip is thus completely cleaned even with larger wheel diameters.
The oscillating movement of the cleaning strips causes the initially stationary locomotive to sink into the felt covering under its own weight. When a low traction voltage is applied, the wheels then rotate while the locomotive is stationary. Non-driven wheels (e.g. wagon wheels) are cleaned by rolling the wheel treads (locomotion) on the oscillating polishing material. For this purpose, the wagon is moved manually or by the pulling or pushing locomotive. Manual time-consuming cleaning of the wheel treads is no longer necessary. Your locomotives and wagons get clean wheel treads, which allows an optimal current absorption between rail and wheel.
