The original "Bayrische Zugspitzbahn" AEG valley locomotive and 2 cars The Bayrische Zugspitzbahn of the Bayrische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG is, along with the Wendelsteinbahn, one of the oldest mountain railroads in Germany. The line leads from Garmisch Partenkirchen directly to the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. The line begins with the valley railroad between Garmisch Partenkirchen and Grainau, and from there the steep track up to the Zugspitze changes into a rack railroad. Currently, the valley locomotive 1 and 4 as well as the 4-axle passenger car are still in use.
