Novelty 2024: With the realization of the EP09 as a large series model, PIKO fulfills a heart's desire of many model railroaders - and not only in Poland. The realization of the characteristically angular prototype in the model has succeeded in the usual high quality. The smooth edges of the modern locomotive design are complemented by fine details. The PIKO Expert model is characterized by the finest engravings, plastic fan replicas as well as a highly detailed roof design and intricately designed bogies. Thanks to the high dead weight and a perfectly coordinated drive concept, the locomotive has high tractive power, which is further optimized by the factory-integrated digital decoder. The model is rounded off by the clean, prototypical paintwork and the elaborate printing. The model has a PSD XP sound decoder with the largest possible loudspeaker ex works.

The model bears the "fits mfx®" quality mark. A new "fits mfx®" quality mark was introduced together with Märklin and other manufacturers to make digital decoders reliable for all users of the current Märklin digital command stations. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone a special mfx® test and have passed it in full. these decoders and also the locomotives in which they are installed bear the "fits mfx®" quality mark, which certifies unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the "fits mfx®" logo now also fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
