Vossloh Locomotives is among the European market leaders in the construction of diesel locomotives. With their economy, flexibility and eco-friendliness, these rail vehicles repeatedly set new standards in mainline and shunting locomotives.
The G 1000 BB can be used for heavy shunting and light mainline service. It is licensed in Germany, Italy, Luxembourg (CFL series 1100) and France. At SBB Cargo, they bear the series designation Am 842. Some locomotives were leased in 2006 by the then Railion Deutschland (now DB Cargo Deutschland) to test their suitability as a possible successor to the class 290/294. For this purpose, they were given the series number 261, but these numbers, which were kept in the books, were not inscribed on the vehicles.
